　　新华社香港5月23日电 由香港潮州商会主办、香港特区政府中西区民政事务处协办的“‘大潮东去 香江多娇’香港潮州商会红头船风雨亭落成暨潮汕文化嘉年华启动仪式”23日在港举行。长18.19米、宽3.89米的红头船矗立在中山公园海滨长廊，诉说“勇立潮头”的潮商精神。

　　红头船是指清代广东省（当时包括香港及潮汕地区）官府为了便于管理而要求在船头油上红色，从事远洋贸易的商船因船头朱红色而得名。香港开埠之时，即有潮汕人乘搭红头船来港，最早落户于港岛三角码头一带。不少人从事转口贸易和航运，三角码头成为了接待内地乡亲和给予行驶远洋的红头船补给的中间站。潮汕先辈搭乘红头船远渡重洋，历尽风险和艰辛，到海外谋生，寻求发展。

　　香港潮州商会会长高佩璇说，潮州先辈们怀揣梦想鼓足勇气，登上红头船下南洋、闯世界，凭借顽强的意志及非凡的智慧，开辟一条条充满希望的海上商贸之路。全港潮籍人士将不忘初心，在红头船精神的引领下，继续为香港经济发展和社会和谐稳定、为家乡建设和国家现代化作出贡献。

　　5月23日至25日，主办方于中西区上环海滨长廊段举办“潮汕文化嘉年华”，设有摊位供市民及旅客体验。
